Professional & Personal Background

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under the clinical supervision of Dr. Ada Cheung, LCSW-S. I am passionate about providing teen counseling, young adult therapy, and family counseling. My goal as a therapist is to help each person grow and reach their full potential.
I primarily work with individuals and families who are challenged with:

attachment issues,
-
gender and sexual identity issues, and
-
grief.
I help individuals and families identify their goals and assist them in accomplishing those goals through an individualized plan.
My style of therapy is warm, open, energetic, and with a hint of humor. I provide a variety of therapies that are supported by research and shown to be effective. My main therapeutic approaches include:

When I am not seeing my clients, you’ll often find me drawing on my iPad, going to concerts, traveling to various countries, playing The Legend of Zelda, going to restaurants, or spending quiet time with my two cats.

I have always had a passion for working with tweens, teens, young adults, and families. Entering my educational journey, I sought out those educational and internship opportunities that would qualify me teen therapy, young adult counseling, and family therapy.
Working with teenagers, young adults, and families takes a very unique personality and skill set. While many therapists prefer to not work with teenagers and young adults, I have found that my personality and skill set are a great fit and have been very successful as a result.

I am a 2020 alumna of the GCSW at the University of Houston where I received a Master’s degree in Social Work. My experience includes completing an internship at the Montrose Counseling Center. A counseling center specializing in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, families, and couples by providing individual and group therapy services.

My education and internships have helped provide the foundation to help me be of help to those who I see in counseling.
Being Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) trained, I have sought out opportunities to help teens and young adults who have experienced trauma or PTSD. I have worked full-time for The Houston Area Women’s Center where I provided individual and group counseling services to survivors of human trafficking, survivors of domestic violence, and survivors of sexual violence. It was at these two agencies that I further developed my passion for working with individuals coping with complex trauma and gender/sexual identity issues from various cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I have worked with teens throughout the spectrum of care from a residential treatment center to another private practice located in Houston, Texas. I have also worked with teens and young adults across the spectrum of emotional challenges from those who experienced complex trauma to those who are adjusting to phase of life changes -- and everything in between.

In my work with teens and young adults, I have seen the increase in depression, anxiety, and other emotional challenges increase. More than ever, it is important that in the Katy, TX and Houston area, we have therapists who specialize in providing teen therapy, young adult therapy, and family therapy. Having a specialist on your team can make all the difference in helping you accomplish your goals in therapy.
