A Combined 70+ Years of Counseling & Therapeutic Services: Serving Katy, Tx & Houston
At Katy Teen & Family Counseling, we have 70+ years of combined experience in providing counseling and therapeutic services to teens, young adults, and families. Led by the Owner & Lead Clinician at Katy Teen & Family Counseling, Jason Drake, LCSW-S, BCN has been providing counseling and therapeutic services to teens, young adults, and families since 2003.
As specialists in teen therapy, counseling for young adults, and family counseling, our primary goal is to help teens and resolve emotional or behavioral challenges during the teen years. This prevents them from carrying these heavy burdens into their adult years. Helping teens in this way greatly increases the likelihood that they will develop into strong, healthy, adults.
For those young adults, or older teens, who still are struggling with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD/ADD, trauma, PTSD, or other difficulties, our young adult therapists can help.
We are intentional on the teen therapy, counseling for young adults, and family counseling approaches we use. We use those approaches that are supported by research and have been shown to work.
We also use those approaches that can help bring about change in the shortest amount of time. We want to relieve your teen or young adult's suffering, help restore hope, happiness, and connected family relationships in the shortest amount of time possible.
Your teen or young adult has a happy life to live in school, with friends, and with their family. Let us help your them live their lives to their fullest potential in healthy, positive ways.
Family Counseling & Parent Coaching
The family is a key element in the teens growth and development. As teen, young adult, and family therapists, we will be out of the picture within a relatively short period of time. The family is there for a lifetime.
When the family is included in the teen or young adult's therapeutic journey, it is likely that they will succeed in therapy. And, with the family being involved, the changes are more likely to last long term.
Parents will learn the skills and tools the teen or young adult are learning. And through family therapy, parents can come to understand the driving mechanisms behind the teen or young adult's struggles.
There are opportunities as well to receive parent coaching from teen therapy, young adult counseling, and family therapy specialists. We provide this formally through scheduling sessions with the parents. We also are available in between session to parents for in the moment coaching as well. It can be a relief for parents to know they have a specialist in their corner working on their behalf.
Marriage Counseling & Couples Therapy
Parenting a teen or young adult can, at times, be a challenge on a good day. Hormones, mood swings, irritability, and talking back are all a normal part of the teen or young adult learning to separate and become their own individual. When you add to this depression, anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD/ADD, trauma, PTSD or a myriad of other factors, it can have an impact on your marriage or relationship.
Marriage counseling or couples therapy can be a normal part of the process when your teen or young adult begins therapy. As your teen or young adult begins to improve and the stability in the home increases as a result of family therapy, this is a time to focus on your marriage or relationship.
Marriage counseling or couples therapy tends to be faster than individual therapy alone. Usually it takes a third of the time that individual therapy sessions can take. If you are finding that your relationship could use some attention due to parenting a struggling teen or young adult, Katy Teen & Family Counseling can help.
You also may be in a position where you aren't parenting a struggling teen or young adult. Maybe you are empty nesters but your marriage or relationship is struggling. Our marriage counselors or couples therapists can help.
