Personal, Professional, & Educational Background

My name is Faye. I was born in London, United Kingdom and moved to the United States when I was 14 months old. What was supposed to be an 18-month job assignment, turned into our forever home.

I grew up with my three brothers and our family has grown with two sisters-in-law, and a sweet little nephew. I am married to my wonderful husband and we have a German Shepherd named Samantha (Sam).

I have always had a passion for helping others. Throughout school, I was involved in Peer Assistant Leadership (PALS), which allowed me to help others going through difficult times. This started my passion for helping others which continued through college and life.

Being a Peer Assistant Leader taught me about the importance of having unconditional positive regard towards another at a young age. I became aware of the resilience that children, teens, and young adults have while struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma.

My passion only furthered when I began to struggle with my own depression and anxiety. Throughout my teen years, I wanted to have a safe space to express myself and my feelings. My experiences with therapy throughout my teenage years drove me to learn about the mental health field which helped guide me to the counseling field.

I help children, teens, young adults, and families heal from past and current struggles while learning new coping skills to help them live a happy life. I help provide tools for individuals to utilize to allow them to process new situations as they arise.

In therapy, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to feel able to heal from past or current trauma’s, feelings of depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. I know both through my personal and professional experience how important having a safe, non-judgmental space is for healing.

Educational Journey

My path to child therapy, teen therapy, young adult counseling, and family therapy started with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. I majored in psychology and minored in communication sciences and disorders. These two degrees helped me understand developmental milestones, and how positive relationships and experiences can impact a teenager's and young adult's life.

After graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I completed a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology at University of Houston-Victoria. This degree enabled me to acquire the skills and knowledge to become a child, teen, young adult, and family therapist. The Forensic Psychology degree incorporates the same requirements as the Counseling Psychology degree and allowed me to learn more about psychological law and additional assessments.

Professional Journey

Throughout my education, I worked in a forensic setting with high-risk teens and adults. My training included diagnostic psychological evaluations/testing and individual counseling focused on trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Since earning my master’s degree, I have been providing teen counseling, young adult counseling, family therapy, and child counseling for those experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring substance use.

The counseling approaches I utilize are supported by research and have been found to be effective. Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are two of those counseling approaches I use in child, teen therapy, young adult counseling, and family therapy.

My goal is to help clients identify their strengths and build upon them to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. The therapy process is guided by my clients to meet the goals that they have set for themselves. I provide the support, guidance, and positive, supportive challenge to help collaborate on their journey through therapy.

Everyone experiences hardships throughout their lives. Having a safe place to process through those hardships and traumas can help restore an individual’s hope and bring a more positive approach to life.

A Child & Teen Therapist, Young Adult Counselor, & Family Therapist at Katy Teen & Family Counseling

I am fortunate to be working with Katy Teen & Family Counseling as they truly do prove that they care about their clients they work with. They also have shown that they care about all who call in by helping others find a therapist if our practice is full.

When I first spoke with Jason Drake, LCSW-S, BCN, he shared the mission and values that he has brought to the practice to ensure that everyone shares a consistent view of the therapeutic relationship. One of Katy Teen & Family Counseling's values is being "Committed and Devoted to Client Care". They have shown they live this value on a daily basis and a value that I hold in high regard.

Being a part of a practice that shares the same values allows children, teens, young adults, and families to know that they will be receiving the same level of care throughout the therapeutic process. This starts from the very first phone call through completion in therapy.

Katy Teen & Family Counseling provides me the opportunity to help children, teens, young adults, and families become comfortable, gain confidence to express their needs and emotions, and create healthy communication to assist them through current and future relationships and experiences that they will encounter.
